The Power of the Cartoon
Bob Robinson

The old saying “a picture is worth a thousand words” pales in comparison to the potential power of a good cartoon, especially a good political cartoon.

Political cartoons aren’t always “political.” They can tell a story, tell about an event… today or in history. They can capture the mood of a country, state or city. They can touch the emotions in ways that no written word ever could.

And they do it with a simple drawing. It might take a cartoonist hours to create what we spend maybe ten seconds looking at, but a good one will leave an image that will stay with us forever.

Such are these cartoons about the tragedy in Connecticut. They are powerful. One of them will be with me forever.
