210,000 Votes and Counting...

Message from Hits 105.5...

You may have noticed that the tallies for votes listed at Hits 105.5 are showing errors.  What does that mean? It means that this year’s Volunteer of the Year voting has already exceeded all expectations, and we still have six more days to go!

As of midnight last night, more than 210,000 votes have been cast for the 25 Volunteer of the Year nominees in Darke, Logan, Miami and Shelby Counties!  That’s more votes than the total population of our four county region!  While the online tallies are appearing with errors, please know that your votes are being calculated correctly.  The webmaster for Hits 105.5 assures us that he has the correct totals behind the scenes.  A minimum of 40,000 votes have been cast in each county, and this latest glitch means only that the winner will be a secret until our April 11th celebration of volunteers.

Continue voting through April 6th with confidence. Your votes do count, and we appreciate the absolutely amazing results from this year’s second annual celebration of National Volunteer Week through HandsOn West Central Ohio and Hits 105.5.  For more frequent updates, check our Facebook page.

Special thanks to this year’s National Volunteer Week sponsors, including A Learning Place, Emerson Climate Technologies, Mary Rutan Hospital, Second National Bank, Unity National Bank and Wayne Health Care. Special thanks also to our incredible friends at Hits 105.5 who have allowed us to, in our own way, “crash” their website.  Keep voting!

Voting ends April 6th, and winners will be announced during our celebration of volunteers on April 11th and again live on Hits 105.5 on the morning of April 13th.

Nicolette Winner of HandsOn West Central Ohio and Council on Rural Services said she could understand the confusion.

“I’m sure you can appreciate that we could never have anticipated such an amazing response, especially with just under 8,000 votes during last year’s inaugural promotion. We are committed to maintaining the integrity of the voting, as are our friends at Hits, and we have checked to ensure that every vote does, in fact, count,” she said.

These are the volunteers who have been nominated for Darke County. In order to cast your vote, go to http://www.hits1055.com/ and click on the “Vote Now” box in the upper left corner.

Nominees: Pete Trocano, Cindy Hale, Brooke Combs, Christy Riley, Barb Baker and Mariah Reitz.
