Greenville Graduates, a College Funding Opportunity
December 6, 2011

If you are a Junior or Senior in college and have graduated from Greenville H.S., there is $1000 available to assist you in paying for college!

The Grace Burdge Educational Fund is a very low interest loan, repayable at 3% interest, beginning 6 months from the date you graduate from college (undergraduate degree), or from the date of withdrawal from college, whichever comes first.

As stated in the Last Will of Miss Grace Burdge, this trust was established “to be loaned by the Board of Education at a nominal rate of interest to any graduate of the local high school who has reached his or her Junior year in college and is in need of funds to complete their education.”  According to a family member, Arline Light, Grace and her brother were professional photographers, operating their studio on Broadway in Greenville. Miss Burdge resided on 3rd Street in Greenville, and had a life long interest in education.

Applications are available by contacting Carla Surber, CPA, Greenville Schools’ Treasurer, Memorial Hall, Greenville, 548-3185 x 725.
