SafeHaven needs computer volunteers

One local organization provides a center for adults to participate in educational, social and vocational support. Since it is a consumer-operated center, the program needs the help of volunteers to provide their services to adults in the community.

SafeHaven, Inc. is looking for a few volunteers to do computer work for the organization. Volunteers would assist with keeping computers updated, updating the organization’s Web site, computer programming and any other IT support as needed. Computers are used by the organization’s members for education, GED classes, vocational assistance, inspiration and more. Volunteers must be older than 18 years and have previous IT experience. Students in an Information Technology program at a college or technical school who are looking for related experience would be appreciated as well. The schedule is flexible, and volunteers may serve a weekly shift between 11:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. The organization also provides a free lunch daily for staff members and volunteers.

“This volunteer work impacts hundreds of individuals in our community with mental health needs,” says Doug Metcalfe, SafeHaven Executive Director. “Volunteers in this position allow proper functioning of our consumer and staff computers as well as allowing more time for staff to work directly with our members.”
