Aces Program Graduates 20 Students

GREENVILLE   –   Council on Rural Services is proud to congratulate the twenty students that graduated from the Achievement Center for Educational Success (ACES) program and received diplomas from their local school districts.

The program believes in the approach of different choices for students that seek a different educational option by providingindividualized instruction to match each student’s ability and learning style.  When students were asked what they like most about the program answers included:  everyone is treated with respect, persistent motivation from all teachers, hands on program, individualized teaching, and instructors teach because they care.

We are also pleased with the year-end statistics and outcomes for the ACES Program for the 2010-11.  They include:
•    52 students were enrolled in the ACES program in the 9th through 12th grades from ten school districts
•    20 students attending graduated from six of the school districts; Greenville City Schools, Mississinawa Valley Schools, Covington Exempted Village Schools, Tri-Village Local Schools, Arcanum-Butler Local Schools, and Franklin Monroe Schools,
•    24 additional students advanced to their next grade level.
•    95.9% of the 333 credits attempted in all courses, were successfully completed.
•    Students achieved a 90% attendance rate during the year.
•    The program also provided 684 hours of support services, employment training, service learning, and development training during the year.

Coursework at ACES is provided in a Greenville classroom setting under the guidance of two certified teachers, trained aides/tutors, program coordinator and a youth advocate.  Social skills and behavioral counseling are also offered to all students enrolled.  The overall goal of ACES is to bring each student up to their grade-level performance and on to diplomas awarded from their home schools.

Program director, Jeff Vaughn said, “We collaborate with ten different school districts and together we pledge our help to every student that attends ACES.  We strive to furnish the needed instruction for the students to help them succeed in school and in their life. By helping them to graduate, this program makes a difference in their lives.”
