VFW Arbor Ceremony

By Al Bliss

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Arbor Ceremony was conducted by Doug Black at 10:00 AM July 9, 2011 at the top of the bank overlooking the pond behind the VFW facilities at 219 North Ohio Street. The reason for this Arbor designed and installed under the direction of Connie Brinley is to establish a memorial to TERESA CARTEE, lifetime VFW AUXILIARY member loved by all. Chuck Cartee, Teresa’s husband, said that the arbor should not be just for Teresa but a place that all members can use as a spot to plant something in memory of their loved ones.

The brief ceremony was lead by Doug Black standing next to the arbor. One of the two yellow rose bushes planted especially for Teresa can be seen next to the Arbor. The ceremony was finalized by a thoughtful and heartfelt prayer by Peg Black. The ten folks that rode their motorcycles form Arcanum, Lewisburg, Eaton and Pitsburg to attend this ceremony [because of their long friendship with Teresa] added to the spirit of the event and shared cake, coffee  and honest fellowship in the Lodge before leaving.
