Darke County Parks Awards Bird Feeder Grant

The Darke County Park District recently awarded 3 classrooms in Darke County a grant to receive a bird feeder to be placed outside their classroom window.  Along with the bird feeder, each classroom will receive bird seed to keep the feeder full for the winter and special visits from a naturalist throughout the school year.  Recipients of the award are Mississinawa Valley first grade teacher Kathy Armstrong, Versailles Elementary second grade teacher Karen Albers and Tri-Village fourth grade teacher Sarah Drew.  “It would thrill me to share my love for birds with my students, but even more importantly, it would be one more chance to help them gain a lifelong appreciation for nature in general,” said teacher Kathy Armstrong.  The Darke County Park District is also very excited as this is just another opportunity to reach many different students across Darke County.  For more information about other programs the Park District offers, visit our website at www.darkecountyparks.org.
