French featured speaker at DCRWC

Judge Judith “Judi” French was the featured speaker at a recent meeting of the Darke County Republican Women’s Club (DCRWC). French sits on the bench for the Tenth District Court of Appeals, which hears appeals from Franklin County courts and state administrative agencies as well as original actions and civil and criminal appeals.

French is campaigning to win the Ohio Republican Party’s (ORP) endorsement in her run for the Ohio Supreme Court. “Judges have different styles when they campaign. I’ve found that I enjoy it and enjoy the traveling. And, I enjoy even the door to door– getting out and talking to people.”

During her presentation, she explained the process the Republican Party uses to reach this decision. And how she, and her campaign, will be working throughout the state before that decision is reached.

“I’m not just a lawyer and a judge. I think I am someone you all can relate to. I’m a wife, I’m a Mom, I’m active in the community. I’m not just someone who sits on the bench.“ explained French. “I need to translate all of that, I need to translate all of my experience and the kind of person I am to the voters and that is where you as volunteers come in.“

Judge French continued by talking about how the DCRWC is great at volunteering and the role of volunteers in campaigns.

Judge French has earned a B.A. in Political Science, an M.A. in History (Military History & Strategic Studies), and a J.D. (with honors), all from The Ohio State University.  She currently serves as a member of the Moritz College of Law National Council.

Judge French resides in Grandview Heights with her husband, Ed Skeens, who is a Magistrate in the Franklin County Common Pleas Court, They have two children, Julia and Joseph.
