Business and Professional Women meet in November for IDP meeting

Greenville Business Professional Women...
Patel talks on ‘Catapult Your Career & Personal Life – Tips to Use Now!’
November 15, 2011

Greenville, OH.  The Individual Development Program (IDP) Committee of the Greenville Business & Professional Women’s (BPW) Club hosted the November 10th meeting which was held at the Brethren Retirement Center.

Jane Carroll and Rebecca Zeedyk from the IDP Committee planned an enjoyable and educational evening.  Danielle Patel was invited to speak before the Club for the evening.  Danielle has over 10 years of experience in the human resource field.  She has worked with Fortune 500 company Capital One and most recently with Gaylord Entertainment, a leading hospitality and entertainment company.  Danielle has experience in mass hiring, behavioral interviewing, process improvement, international recruiting and offer negotiation. She excels at dynamic, proactive recruiting, and selecting and hiring top talent.

Danielle gave an energetic presentation entitled ‘Catapult Your Career and Personal Life – Tips to Use Now!’  She spoke on four topics:  generational challenges, e-mail etiquette, body language skills, and negotiations.  She encourages communication when dealing with different generations.  Adapt to each group for success.  When using e-mail, respond in a timely manner to requests and be genuine.  Body language is important.  Patel suggests women should give a firm handshake, make eye contact and face the person head on during introductions.  Dress for success.  Wear one statement piece!  Danielle covered 10 steps for successful negotiating.  She ended her talk sharing something she always remembers…Three B’S:

Be Bold!  Be Brief!  Be Brilliant!

The Club is working on their upcoming fundraiser ‘Breakfast With Santa’.  This event is scheduled for December 10, 2011 at 9:00 AM at the VFW Hall in Greenville at a cost of $5.00.  For more information or reservations please call Susan Fowble at 937/548-1414.

The Greenville BPW Club’s mission is to achieve equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education, and information.  The Club holds fund raisers throughout the year to raise money to grant scholarships to the young women of Darke County.  The Club meets the second Thursday of every month for a dinner meeting.  Those interested in learning more about the club can contact Membership Chair Gail Snyder at 937/423-4854 or gails669@embarqmail.com
