Hospital to sponsor Family Theatre Series

Wayne Hospital’s recent donation to Darke County Center for the Arts will sponsor the local arts council’s Family Theatre Series.  “DCCA brings professional theatre groups to the children and families in our community thanks in part to the support of Wayne Healthcare; we are grateful that they show their support for the community by making it affordable for children to learn and grow through the Arts,” said Julie Strait, DCCA Executive Director.

According to Strait, DCCA’s Family Theatre Series attracts a wide-ranging audience which includes many preschool children enjoying their first theater experience, as well as senior citizens who enjoy the shows’ strong depiction of traditional values.

Performance times are scheduled to fit conveniently into most schedules at 2 p.m. Sundays.  Most of the productions are original musicals based on popular tales adapted from current and classic children’s literature.

This season’s Family Theatre Series opens on November 20 with Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia’s presentation of Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny.  Theatre IV will present The House At Pooh Corner on March 25, 20120 and American Family Theatre will end the season with Wizard Of Oz on May 6, 2012.  All performances are at St. Clair Memorial Hall in Greenville and are open to the public.

General Admission Tickets are $5 each, or save by purchasing all three shows in the series for just $12. Tickets may be purchased by calling DCCA at (937) 547-0908 or e-mail dcca@centerforarts.net.
