Onward Greenville!

Editor’s Note: Wave chalks up big Homecoming Win, beating McClain, 35-19.

The Homecoming spirit has latched itself onto the halls of Greenville Senior High School. The spirit began with hallway decoration. Each class tried their best to outdo the other with their respective decorations, all prevalant around the theme - Welcome to Wonderland. The week continued with dress-up days including class color day and green and white day. Thursday night hosted the Homecoming parade, which, despite the dreary conditions, drew the crowds of Greenville together to show support for the team.

There were many people behind the spirit shown throughout Greenville, and a majority of those people came from Greenville High School. One such person was the art teacher, Jane Cleary.

“Decorations” and “seeing the kids have fun” with them was the main highlight that Mrs. Cleary had during Homecoming week. Being an art teacher, she had a large role in various non-class-related decorations. When asked about predictions on the upcoming game, she replied with “Greenville [will win], of course!”

Another one of the teachers that helped with Homecoming was Lori Keller, Spanish teacher and leader of SADD club. She shared similar opinions with Mrs. Cleary on saying that hall decorations brought fun and school spirit to the students. And as for why Homecoming is important? “It brings the community together,” was her response.

Of course, teachers weren’t the only ones responsible for the spirit of Homecoming. Each club had its respective members working on decorations, float ideas, the list continues on. A member of French Club, Tina Cost, had this to say on Homecoming week: “My favorite part is having everyone come together to work on the floats... teamwork... it’s a time to dress up, have fun, and relieve stress”. When asked if she believes Greenville High School demonstrates spirit, her response was “... we have it”.

The Homecoming week will draw to a close Saturday night, after the dance has been concluded. No matter which way you look at it, it seems that Greenville really does have the spirit within.
