State Line Heritage Days
Redd takes first place in Chalk Art

Indiana Wesleyan University student Danielle Redd took first place in the second annual 2012 Union City Psi Chapter Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest during the city’s State Line Heritage Days on Saturday.  Danielle has participated in other sidewalk chalk events and ‘had a great time’ sharing her original composition for Sweet-Tooth Fairy, one of many depictions she has created of Sweet-Tooth Fairy delighting in various confections.

The colorful artistic endeavors of the participants on the corner of Columbia and Pearl were enjoyed by many festival goers throughout the day.  Awards were announced and presented following the grand parade in front of the picturesque community garden.

First Place Ages 4-9, Jalee Livingston from Union City, Ohio; Second Place Ages 4-9, Dalton Brim from Union City, OH; Third Place Ages 4-9, Conner Cline from Union City, IN.  First Place Ages 10-13, Morgan Wymer from Union City, IN; Second Place Ages 10-13, Daisy Brim from Union City, OH; Third Place Ages 10-13, Ashley Cline from Union City, IN.  First Place Ages 14-17, Hannah Smith from Winchester, IN; Second Place, Jeff Cline, Union City, IN.  First Place Ages 18 and above, Danielle Redd from Winchester, IN; Second Place, Eric Cline from Union City, IN.

Photos of the entries will appear in a community birthday and anniversary calendar, which goes on sale during the Union City Holiday Shopping Days on Saturday, November 17.

The event was sponsored by the Union City Psi Chapter of Tri Kappa.  The purpose of this organization is to bring women into close, unselfish relationship for the promotion of charity, culture, and education.

The Union City Psi Chapter was chartered in 1907.  The chapter sponsors high school scholarships for both Union City Community High School and Mississinawa Valley High School seniors and supports numerous state level projects such as the Riley Hospital for Children.
