Versailles student takes first place
Runners-up from Mississinawa Valley, Ansonia

Samantha Runner (center) won first place in the Darke County Spelling Bee at Arcanum Thursday afternoon. Samantha, an eighth grader at Versailles Schools, is the daughter of Chuck and Jessica Runner. 

First runner-up in the district-wide contest was Mary Lamas-Funk, sixth grader at Mississinawa Valley School District. 

Second runner-up was Julie Kramer, sixth grader at Ansonia School District.
