Big Brothers Big Sisters...
BBBS Announces New Volunteers
March 3, 2012

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Shelby & Darke County is pleased to announce the newest volunteers in the core mentoring program.

Susan Dilworth, of New Madison, loves animals and spends many hours with them through Friends with the Shelter in Darke County, the Miami County Mounted Search and Rescue, tending to abandoned or abused animals, as well as her own pets.  Susan also enjoys hiking, reading, and doing craft projects.  Since her children are grown and away from home, Susan wants to be a Big Sister to have a child in her life and to give back to the community.  She loves the enthusiasm of children and their eagerness to learn.

Katelyn Irish, of Greenville, loves children and their ability to be non-judgmental.  She is a college student, majoring in Early Childhood Education.  She is eager to get to know her new Little Brother and be there for him with good advice.  They will play pool, foosball, and board games.

Tara Smith, of Greenville, attended the agency Christmas party with a friend and decided to become a Big Sister.  She looks forward to being a positive influence on her new Little Brother.  They will spend time playing video games, watching movies, and baking.

Delane Tyler, of Sidney, understands that children benefit from having other adults in their lives, and so she wants to become a friend to her Little Brother and be a positive role-model for him.

Timothy Lawrence, of Sidney, heard an announcement on WMVR, Hits 105.5, and decided he could reach out to help mentor a child waiting for a “Big” volunteer.  Timothy and his new Little Brother will share fun activities together, playing Wii, watching football and basketball, and fishing.

April Clem, of Port Jefferson, enjoys helping others, and now wants to reach out to help youth in Shelby County.  April likes outdoor activities, such as softball, kickball, running, and biking.  She and her new Little Sister will play Wii and board games as they spend time together building their relationship.

Jessica Clark, of Port Jefferson, is happy to be filling a volunteer role as a service in the community.  She likes arts and crafts and will share that interest with her new Little Sister.

Jamie Wilson, of Greenville, wants to volunteer as a Big Sister because she cares about children and wants to help out in the community.  She aspires to become a school teacher.  For now, she will be there for her new Little Sister, showing love and support.
