Darke County Fair
A Final Note that’s Unspeakable
By Bob Robinson

No discussion of the Darke County Fair would be complete without a final note about something (someone) that’s unspeakable.

He calls himself the UNSPEAKABLE Mime. Or at least someone does. I’ve never heard him speak his name.

I’ve never heard him speak.

Each year at the fair he pops up as something else… historically “he” has been a bland gray, but he has also added a little color for flavor on occasion. He’s been a businessman, farmer, soldier and a few other things that I’m not sure I could correctly identify… so I won’t try.

He is absolutely hilarious. One little girl, this year, was giggling so hard she was beside herself. I was busy getting shots of his interaction with those around him, but Lyn and Al Bliss were also there and Lyn got probably one of the most precious shots of the year.

She graces this article as its lead photo.

Photo Set 1 is this year’s offering. Photo set 2 is a series of shots from the past. They are offered to you with thanks to the UNSPEAKABLE Mime for the UNSPEAKABLE enjoyment and UNFORGETTABLE memories he has provided to fairgoers over the years.
