Midmark Teammates Support March of Dimes Mission

VERSAILLES, Ohio – (April 19, 2013) – Midmark teammates have pulled together to champion the March of Dimes. This year the March of Dimes is celebrating 75 years of healthy births. Its mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. It carries out this mission through programs of research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies’ lives.

Midmark supported the 75-year milestone by kicking off a fundraising campaign in February to raise $20,000 for the annual March of Dimes March for Babies campaign, which is the largest goal to date. The fundraising includes “jeans weeks”, a coordinated plant sale, online auction, walker monetary donations, t-shirt sales, a vehicle auction and company cookbook. Though the vehicle auction will raise the most funds, the committee’s favorite event was the creation of the company cookbook. Co-chair Margaret Middleton said, “We received around 280 responses from not only Versailles teammates, but also from sales representatives and teammates from Midmark subsidiaries.” Each event contributes greatly in helping us reach the $20,000 goal.

The committee has a strong focus on, not only raising funds, but also the true reason behind the fundraising, babies. All the healthy babies born in the previous year at Midmark get to take their place on the team t-shirt. The committee also chooses an Ambassador Baby that has a connection to Midmark teammates. Connor Stroh holds that honor this year; he is the great- nephew of machinist Mary Lou Nerderman.

The Midmark March for Babies committee includes co-chairs Margaret Middleton and Gloria Meyer along with Denise Dillman, Mitch Eiting, Polly Grow, Karen Herndon, Brenda Heuing, John House, Jennifer Litten, Shannon Schwieterman, Michael Siebenaler, Scott Strait, Alec Thielman, and Georgiana Williams.

This year’s events will continue through April, concluding with the March for Babies walk at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, at the Darke County Fairgrounds.
