Ava Gosnell, Jarrett Norris take Little Miss & Mr. titles

GREENVILLE – Hundreds of parents, family and friends took a trip to the West Coast Aug. 19 as 59 three, four and five-year-olds put together their best “Surfin’ Safari” presentations in hopes of becoming the 2013 Little Miss & Mister Darke County Fair Queen & King.

Walking away with the sashes, trophies, bicycles and a variety of other gifts were Little Miss Darke County Fair Queen Ava Gosnell, age 4, daughter of Trevor and Kristen Gosnell; and Little Mr. Darke County Fair King Jarrett Norris, Age 3, son of Jeremy and Tara Norris.

First Runner-ups were Little Miss, Avery Leeper, age 5, daughter of Teresa and Chris Leeper, and Little Mr. Jake Norris, age 5, son of Jeremy and Tara Norris. Second Runner-ups were Little Miss Mylee Bierly, age 5, daughter of Benny and Ashley Bierly, and Little Mr. Elliott Seubert, age 4, son of Justin and Tricia Seubert. Third Runner-ups were Little Miss Aubrey Wulber, age 5, daughter of April and the late Ryan Wulber, and Little Mr. Jackson D.L. Ross, age 4, son of Denny and Amy Ross.

Most Photogenic were Allyson Waymire, age 5, daughter of Randall and Amy Waymire, Laura Waymire, and Daniel Davis, age 3, son of Marah and Dylan Davis.

The contest is coordinated by Kathy Beam and The Flower Patch. Beam told the audience that they will be looking for past winners of the Little Miss & Mr. and hope to showcase them in a future pageant. She also noted next year there will likely be a facebook contest for the 2014 theme. Details to be announced later.

Darke County Fair Director Brian Rismiller talked about the growth of the Little Miss & Mr. pageant, noting it outgrew the Gazebo and it looks this year it may be outgrowing the Youth Building.

The emcee for the evening was Alex Mikos, WTGR Tiger Radio announcer. Noting the turnout for the pageant he said, “What a wonderful way to showcase our youth.”

Judges for the event were Susan Allread with Greenville Federal, Greenville Police Chief Dennis Butts, Lisa Francis with Leis Realty and Darke County Commissioner Mike Stegall.

Runners-up and Mr. & Miss Photogenic received prizes that include sashes and trophies, gift certificates and various other items.

Little Miss contestants included Zoe Ayette, Elleigh Baker, Aubrey Baumgardner, Emma Brown, Cadence Burke, Vivian Dapore, Addie Dynes, Lilly Edwards, Bella Rose Enicks, Ashlynn Flatter, Alexys Foland, Kara Freeman, Addison Gelhaus, Madison Haworth, Jaelyn Hecht, Alainah Hess, Kaylie Hittle, Riley Houck, Alia Hunt, Emma Jones, Meridith Laux, Haven Marker, Ally Marshall, Madison McCool, Alyna Nelson, Madisyn Nelson, Lilly Perry, Addison Pipenger, CJ Rismiller, Elizabeth Shaffer, Abigail May Stump, Cheyenne Swisher, Camryn Thomason, Rachel Wright and McKenna Yant.

Little Mr. contestants included Evan Addis, Nolan Blackford, Lance Brinksneader, Luke Burke, Skyler Derksen, Brody Edwards, Ethan Flatter, Cam Fornshil, Murphy Gantt, Kaden Harrison, Lucas Marker, Hunter Meyers, JJ Vocke and Aaron Wright.
