Local Republican Leader Attends Event to Prepare for 2014

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Lyn Bliss a local resident joined other Republican women leaders from across the state recently at the Ohio Federation of Republican Women’s (OFRW) Annual Fall Conference, which focused on judicial concerns and leadership training.

Bliss is secretary of the Darke County Republican Women’s Club, First Vice-president of the Ohio Federation of Republican Women, and serves on the Board of Directors of the National Federation of Republican Women.

During the two-day event, which was one of the largest statewide gatherings of Republican Women this year, registrants were addressed by Ohio Supreme Court Justice Sharon Kennedy and Jeanne Bolton. Bolton is president of the Licking County Women’s Republican Club and presented leadership ideas and guidelines. The event on Friday night included a Board of Directors’ meeting and a social hour for the “Slate Party” where the nominated officers were introduced.

At the Saturday Conference, the OFRW elected its officers for the upcoming 2014 and 2015 years, unanimously selecting President Lyn Bliss (Darke County Republican Women’s Club), First Vice-president Linda Burke (Warren County Republican Women's Club), Treasurer Mary Beth Kemmer (Miami County Women's Republican Club), Secretary Lauri Hart (Hamilton County Republican Women's Club), Central District Vice-president Jeanne Bolton (Licking County Women's Republican Club), East District Vice-president Risė Roach (Muskingum County Women's Republican Club), Northeast District Vice-president Kathi Creed (Warren Republican Women's Club), Northwest District Vice-president Wendy Jackson (Sandusky County Republican Women's Club), South District Vice-president Wanda Curtis (Morgan County Republican Women's Club) and Southwest District Vice-president Missy Mae Walters (Ohio Republican Women On-line). The officers-elect were administered their Oath of Office by Justice Kennedy, and will serve beginning January 1, 2014.

The OFRW always hosts such enjoyable, yet informative events, it is always a great pleasure to attend the activities it sponsors.” said Bliss. “Justice Kennedy is a dedicated and talented jurist – we were so very lucky to hear from her!”

Founded in 1929, the OFRW has hundreds of active members in local clubs across the state of Ohio, making it one of the largest women’s political organizations in the state. The grassroots organization works to promote the principles and objectives of the Republican Party, elect Republican candidates, inform the public through political education and activity, and increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government.
