Veterans Day ceremony in Versailles Area Museum

On Sunday November 10, the Versailles Area Museum held a program honoring all the local Veterans in the newly opened Military Room.

President Deb Pohl welcomed everyone to the program.  Speaker Mike McClurg, a veteran himself, told the audience “Why we should celebrate Veterans Day” and what three Veterans he looked up to.

A very moving lighting ceremony was then preformed.  Thirteen candles set on a table surrounded one large candle in the middle.  As the number of deaths were read for each war involving the United States a candle was extinguished and a bell was rung.  The last candle in the middle was not extinguished, representing peace for our future generations.

Light refreshments were served in the Annie Oakley Lobby.
