Whirlpool’s pledge means $10,000 for local groups

GREENVILLE – At the end of last year and the beginning of this year Whirlpool Corporation celebrated an achievement never before attained by the company. The Greenville plant produced over two million stand mixers in one year. During the celebration earlier this year for employees and attended by many members of the community, the company pledged to give five local non-profit organization $1,000 each.

On Aug. 28, the company, with assistance from the Whirlpool Foundation, went far beyond the original pledge and gave each of the non-profits a $2,000 donation. Organizations benefiting from the donation were Friends of Darke County Parks, Camp BEARable, American Red Cross – Darke County Chapter, Darke County Visitors Bureau and Bridges to College.
