New ‘fair food’ vendors for 2014
By Elaine Bailey

If you head to the Great Darke County Fair for food, be on the lookout for the new 2014 food vendors.

The Trolley is not only new to this year’s Great Darke County Fair, it is also making its debut in the vending scene.

Kevin and Charlene Via from Gratis, Ohio have put a few of Kevin’s recipes to the taste bud test.  With Kevin’s eye for detail, he has constructed an ornate red trolley complete with a five-foot butler.  The Via family also caters weddings and will soon have a website and Facebook page featuring their offerings.

Delightful Donuts LLC offers mini donuts formerly sold from under the grandstands. Greenville residents Dirk and Elizabeth Lewis purchased and renamed the business.  Their daughter designed the mascot “Dee” located on the side of the trailer.  Even though Dirk is a full time fire fighter and Elizabeth works in the Juvenile Court, they have participated in a number of community festivals this year including the Versailles Poultry Days, New Madison Fourth of July, Arcanum Old Fashioned Days, and cattle shows.

Chilly Willy’s offers Italian Water Ice.  Six-year owner, Will Williams, explained that Italian Water Ice has the consistency of gelato.  It is all natural and made from real fruit.  Willliams  participates in fairs and festivals across numerous counties.

Not new to the Great Darke County Fair is Aunt Puzzy’s Homemade Fudge.  This business has expanded to include two locations on the fairgrounds…. on the east end of the coliseum and now under the grandstands.
