Greenville Library kicks off First Friday

GREENVILLE – While Main Street Greenville’s First Friday officially starts at 6 p.m., enjoyment of the monthly activity actually begins at 11:30 a.m. at Greenville Public Library with its “Lunch on the Lawn.” Aug. 1 was no different with Higgins-Madewell entertaining approximately 200 people with the pair’s mixture of country, blues and classic rock.

Lunch this time was provided by Romer’s Catering. While some brought their own lunches, the 150 meals Romer’s had prepared were gone in about 45 minutes.

“We first started this (Lunch on the Lawn) in August 2012,” said library employee Deb Cameron. That first year the music was provided by JR Price’s Greenville High School Orchestra. “We donated the proceeds for their trip to Florida,” she said. The library tied in with Main Street Greenville that year, but only does its event during the summer (June-August). This was the library’s last “lunch” for the year.
