Grudge match blood drive… Kings Island tickets up for grabs

DARKE COUNTY, Ohio - Darke County’s “Blood & Guts Grudge Match Blood Drive” has been a fun way to gather high school donors during summer break, and this time around they’ll be vacationing in “Donoritaville.” Ansonia High School will host Mississinawa Valley high School in the fifth annual Grudge Match challenge Monday, June 23 with a pair of Kings Island tickets up for grabs and a free “Donoritaville – Relax, lei back, donate… Givin’ is easy!” Parrot Head t-shirt for everyone who registers to donate.

The FFA teams from each school will compete for blood donation bragging rights on Ansonia’s home court with the blood drive from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Ansonia High School gym. The drive is open to students, faculty and the community and all are welcome to “vote” for their favorite team when they register to donate.

MVHS was the proud champion of last year’s Community Blood Center (CBC) FFA Blood & Guts Grudge Match Blood Drive with 45 “votes” to Ansonia’s 19. The win continued the “trend” of home field advantage. The drive location alternates between the schools and the trophy seems to follow the home team. Ansonia hosted in 2012 and won by six “votes.” MVHS won at home the previous year, following Ansonia’s home win in the first Grudge Match.

The Grudge Match will feature free pizza in the Donor Café and everyone who registers to donate will be entered in a drawing for a free pair of Kings Island tickets. Everyone who registers to donate will receive the free “Donoritaville – Relax, lei back, donate… Givin’ is Easy!” t-shirt. Everyone 18 and older who registers to donate will be automatically entered in the “Summer Cruze-In 2014 Blood Drive” drawing to win a 2014 Chevy Cruze

Ten computer-selected finalists will be invited to a special envelope-opening announcement event in October to discover the Chevy Cruze winner.  (Must be 18 to win. Official rules available at www.givingblood.org).

Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment at www.DonorTime.com or contact CBC Darke County Account Representative Dana Puterbaugh at (937) 997-2199 or dputerbaugh@cbccts.org.
