Ohio Indiana Certification now open

Opened for business in April 2014, Ohio Indiana Certification, LLC (OIC), is located at 409 Walker Street Greenville. OIC strives to serve Darke, Preble, Miami and Shelby counties in training students to become State Certified Nursing Assistants (STNA).  Business owners are LaDeana Diver, Registered Nurse (RN), earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Wright State University, Dayton, and Charlotte Sherman, Registered Nurse (RN) earning her degree from Edison Community College, Piqua.  Together they have 27 years of nursing experience, including Medical/Surgical, Surgical, Long Term Care, Nursing Administration, Home Healthcare and School Nursing.

With a great need for STNA’s, OIC has partnered with Village Green Healthcare Center in Greenville. The new Village Green, whose address is on Kitchen Aid Way in the northern part of Greenville, is targeting to open at the end of August. It has a capacity for 89 beds. There will be a memory/Alzheimer’s care and assisted living units. They are looking to at least double the number of current employees.

Village Green provides their current campus for students to receive their state required clinical hours of training.  Students practice all skills from the “Ohio Nurse Aide Candidate Handbook” in a loving and dignified way with the approval of each resident.  This hands-on-style of teaching allows the student to experience what is entailed to actually give personal care to a resident.   This teaching helps prepare the student for the state test outlined in the handbook.  “It was very humbling for me to feed someone who was unable to feed themselves,” states a student from the last class.  This was her first experience actually caring for instead of just visiting an Extended Care Facility.  “STNA care is a total act of love, compassion and dignity for each person,” she relayed to others.

After successfully completing the class, the student is considered a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and can apply to the State of Ohio to test for STNA.  OIC is now offering CNA evening classes and some weekend classes. The program is approximately 3 weeks with classroom and clinical site training.

OIC also offers cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, and Universal Precaution classes. CPR, First Aid and Universal Precaution classes can be taught at the OIC office or at your facility. They will soon be offering Train the Trainer classes. OIC is planning a July open house in their location at 409 Walker Street Greenville, Ohio. Give OIC a call at 937-719-1657 to receive more information about hours and dates for upcoming classes. Like them on Facebook or email oicerts@hotmail.com
