DCCA project launched on power2give.org

Darke County Center for the Arts has developed “Everybody Wins,”a project to benefit their summertime Missoula Children's Theatre residency. This project is one of 35 such efforts in the Miami Valley to be part of the inaugural launch of Power2Give.org in the Dayton region. “DCCA is very excited about the opportunity to participate in this online marketplace designed to connect donors with arts projects deserving of support,” said DCCA Executive Director Andrea Jordan. “Power2Give simply and easily gives you the power to make a difference,” Ms. Jordan explained.

Managed locally by Culture Works, the chief advocate for the arts and culture in the Dayton Region, Power2Give.org has raised over $4.7 million for 1,950 projects across the country since its founding in 2011 by the Charlotte, NC Arts and Science Council. DCCA's project, “Everybody Wins,” seeks funding to help cover production expenses for a week-long theatre workshop which annually attracts the participation of dozens of local students at no cost to participants.

Our MCT residency is an unqualified success by almost any standard – participants earn a sense of accomplishment while developing skills that will continue throughout their lives, our community enjoys a delightful theatrical production that not only enables growth among our youth but also reinforces cultural values, and DCCA fulfills its mission to bring cultural enrichment to the community we serve. This program is a winner; but this magical event ends up in the red annually,” Ms. Jordan stated. “If success is defined only in monetary terms, DCCA's bottom line indicates losing; so if we can add DCCA's bottom line to the winners list, everybody wins,” the DCCA official concluded.

Ms. Jordan urges local citizens to explore the Power2Give.org site, which can be accessed from DCCA's webpage www.CenterForArts.net. “We hope that we can attract donors who believe in the worth of DCCA's programs and want to help us make a difference in the lives of youngsters,” Ms. Jordan said. “We have 90 days to reach our goal of $2,500; each donation will be appreciated, no matter how small or large the amount,” she concluded. DP&L Foundation will provide an equal match to donations, doubling the value of each dollar given.

Darke County Center for the Arts presents and promotes performing and fine arts, encouraging cultural enrichment in the community. DCCA is also committed to the preservation of St. Clair Memorial Hall as an important cultural center. For more information, contact DCCA at 937-547-0908 or CenterForArts.net.
