Dairy Youth Program Updates

The 2014 edition of the Ohio State Fair was a success when we think of
youth activities. It was a wonderful moment to see so many dairy
kids represented at the Sale of Champions. There were also two
dairy judging clinics with over 40 individuals attending each. It also
is good to point out that our dairy skillathon was one of the larger
ones with just about 130 participants. Results for these events are
located at: www.4hansci.osu.edu/dairy.
OSU dairy judging prospects also capably managed the parlor, the
Milk-A-Cow activity, the birthing area, and the baby calf display. Each
provided excellent educational experiences beyond the traditional
classroom. Television stations stopped by often to conduct interviews.
As I write this brief article, there are 45 of us on a charter bus
headed to the Maryland State Fair for our annual dairy judging boot
camp trip.
