Darke County Friends of the Shelter
K9 Eric gets a new bullet proof vest

The “Darke County Friends of the Shelter” recently purchased a new bullet proof vest for K9 Eric. Eric is the Darke County Sheriff’s Office K9. He is a 4 year old Shepherd and is trained in drug work, search and rescue and protection. He is State certified and is the partner of Deputy Pearson.  K9 Eric has been on the job for a year and has been deployed in numerous situations. He and his Handler, Deputy Pearson, train monthly with other K9s from Preble and Butler Counties and Dayton Airport Police Department. He is a dual purpose patrol dog dealing with drug searches, building searches, tracking and suspect apprehension. The friends of the shelter recently purchased a bullet proof vest so K9 Eric will have maximum protection when dealing with armed suspects. They also want to thank K9 Eric and Deputy Pearson for the great job they do to keep us safe.
