MVCTC Electives, Business, and Information Technology SOM January

Englewood, Ohio - The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC), in order to honor outstanding accomplishments and leadership in Career Tech Education, is proud to announce the January 2015 Career Tech Students of the Month honorees from the Electives, Business, and Information Technology Department.

Paige Binder, member of the Clerical Services program taught by Mr. Phil McClurg, and Kara Lawson, member of Computer Engineering/Automated Technology taught by Mr. Mike Wilson, received a plaque to honor their selection and a gift certificate from Wendy’s Restaurant.

Paige Binder, Wayne High School, was recognized by her instructor for being the class president both her junior and senior years as well as being a true leader in her class.  Mr. McClurg stated, “She has accepted a positive leadership role in the senior class and the responsibilities that go with it.”  Paige was also named a Student Ambassador and has worked hard to maintain a 3.7 GPA.

Kara Lawson, Twin Valley South, earned a 99% both the first and second quarters in Computer Engineering/Automated Technology.  Mr. Wilson stated, “I have taught for over 27 years, and I have only had a couple of students score that high, but I have never had a student with that kind of grades raise their grade even higher than a 99% with a semester exam like she did.”  Mr. Wilson went on to praise Kara for not only her work ethic, but also her willingness to help others.

Congratulations to Paige and Kara for being recognized as the Electives, Business, and Information Technology Students of the Month at MVCTC.  Special Thanks to Wendy’s Restaurant on 7200 Hoke Road, Clayton, Ohio for their efforts in sponsoring outstanding student accomplishments at Miami Valley Career Technology Center.
