Business Satellite Program Year in Reveiw
Englewood, Ohio – The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) in
partnership with Franklin Monroe schools offered satellite business
programs starting the 2014-2015 school year at Franklin Monroe High
School. The program taught by Carrie Wiant, offered students
business and computer classes and the opportunity to participate in the
Career Technical Student Organization Business Professionals of America
(BPA). Here are some highlights of their great school year:
On November 19, 2014, five members of Franklin Monroe BPA traveled to
Columbus, Ohio to attend the State Fall Leadership Conference.
Students who attended the conference served as voting delegates to
elect State Officer’s and attended leadership workshops. Students
who participated were Austin Brown, Grace Fee, Caleb Flory, Bradey
Hesler, and Zach Hyre.
On February 3, 2015, Franklin Monroe BPA students traveled to
Greenville, Ohio to the Regional Contests Awards Ceremony.
Students heard Greenville Mayor Mike Bowers speak about leadership and
contributed monetary donations to benefit Special Olympics.

Flory – placed 6th in Financial Math & Analysis, Alex Flora –
placed 6th in Personal Finance Management Concepts, Kyle Ressler –
placed 3rd in Administrative Support Concepts, Tara Goubeaux – placed
4th in Parliamentary Procedure Concepts, Regan Foster – placed 5th in
Parliamentary Procedure Concepts, Austin Brown – placed 1st in Banking
& Finance, Zach Hyre – placed 3rd in Banking & Finance, Caleb
Flory – placed 4th in Banking & Finance, Bradey Hesler – placed 5th
in Banking & Finance, Will Blackburn – placed 6th in Banking &
Finance, Makenzie Kreitzer – placed 1st in Keyboarding Production, Josh
Pratt – placed 4th in Keyboarding Production, Blake Mowry – placed 6th
in Keyboarding Production, Kyle Ressler – placed 3rd in Fundamental
Word Processing Skills, Sarah Miller – placed 6th in Fundamental Word
Processing Skills, Kaleb Wysong – placed 3rd in Advanced Word
Processing Skills, the Video Production Team of Maria Jamison and Lana
Johnson placed 2nd; and the Small Business Management Team of Nychelle
Cool, Grace Fee, Kinsey Goins, and Danielle McVey placed 1st.
On March 12-13, 2015, students who qualified traveled to State
Competition in Columbus, Ohio. Austin Brown placed in the Top 10
for the Banking & Finance contest. The Small Business
Management Team of Nychelle Cool, Grace Fee, Kinsey Goins, and Danielle
McVey placed in the Top 10 of their event.
Students in the Business Academy program had the opportunity to travel
to local businesses to learn about production and distribution.
On December 23, 2014, students visited FRAM Filtration in Greenville,
Ohio to learn more about the production process, tour the facility, and
to discuss a partnership on an upcoming project. On March 27,
2015, students were invited to attend the Partnering for Progress
Spring Economic Development Forum to speak about their experience
working with FRAM on their sales project. On April 17, 2015,
students visited Caterpillar Logistics in Clayton, Ohio and Greenville
Technology Inc. in Greenville, Ohio. Students learned about the
history, Human Resource Management, and took a tour of the
facility. Students in the Business Academy program include Austin
Brown, Caleb Flory, Bradey Hesler, Zach Hyre, and Kaleb Wysong.
For over 40-years, MVCTC has been providing career technical education
for 27 partner school districts encompassing five counties in Southwest
Ohio. MVCTC is dedicated to providing in-demand workforce
training for youth, adults, and organizations in the Miami
Valley. MVCTC is currently working in partnership with other
Darke County schools to offer satellite programming, this includes
Agriculture Education at Mississinawa Valley and Tri-Village. For the
2015-2016 school year, MVCTC will be adding satellite Agriculture
Education at Franklin Monroe and a Business Academy satellite at
Mississinawa Valley.
