Versailles Varsity V
students to fellow special athletes
The Versailles H.S. Varsity V student athletic group is shown making a
donation to members of the Darke County Slammers basketball team who
attend VHS. Shown from left to right are: Murphy Grow and
Courtney Lyons (Varsity V officers), Sheyenne Shimp, Ryan Burnett, and
David Ault (Slammers team members). The team is part of the
Darke County Special Olympics Program.
Darke County Special Olympics is in its 38th year of providing athletic
opportunities for students and adults with varying types of
disabilities from schools throughout Darke County. The 2014 program
served 325 athletes competing at the local, area, and state levels in
basketball, cheerleading, bowling, softball, Unified golf, swimming,
and track & field.
The Annual Track and Field Event will be Friday, May 15 (rain date,
Monday, May 18) from 9:45 AM - 2 PM at Harmon Field. The public
is invited to cheer the athletes.
