VHCC residents enjoy Brukner Nature Center visit

Versailles Health Care Center long-term care residents and staff recently enjoyed a visit from Erica Hile of Brukner Nature Center in Troy.  Residents loved learning about wildlife, specifically the eastern screech owl, big brown bat, and gray rat snake.  Long-term care resident, Mae Stoltz, shared with a laugh, “I never did like snakes, but I wanted to be brave, so I touched it!  I really enjoy when they come and see us.”

Kim Fair, Activity Director, added “Mae was braver than me! As a matter of fact, most of our residents were braver! I love all types of animals, but snakes are not on the list! But I do love finding out as much about them as we can.  They are necessary for everyone’s cycle of life in the world of nature.”  Versailles Health Care Center strives to bring the community into the center and provide intergenerational socialization.
