MVCTC Electives, Business, Information Technology and Agriculture Department Students of the Month for November 2017, Emily Swindell (Medical Office Management from Miami East), McKenzie McCray (Veterinary Science from Eaton), and Garrett George (Diesel Power Technologies from Tri-Village) were recognized for being outstanding representatives of their respective career tech programs.

MVCTC Students of the Month November 2017

Englewood, Ohio -- The Electives, Business, Information Technology, and Agriculture Department at Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC), in order to honor outstanding accomplishments and leadership in Career Tech Education, is proud to announce the November honorees for the Department’s Career Tech Students of the Month. Garrett George (Tri-Village High School), Emily Swindell (Miami East High School), and McKenzie McCray (Eaton High School) were recognized for being outstanding representatives of their respective career tech programs.

Garrett George (Tri-Village High School) from the Diesel Power Technologies program is an apprenticeship student at Mikesell Excavating in New Paris, Ohio.  In addition to working hard at his apprenticeship position, Garrett has a great attitude in lab and with his academic school work.  Program instructor Mr. Larry Siebel stated, “Not only does he work diligently, he does so with tremendous skill!”

McKenzie McCray (Eaton High School) serves as the current MVCTC FFA Treasurer.  She is an outstanding model of organization as she completes duties and assignments with precision.  McKenzie has maintained excellent scholarship in achieving a 4.0 grade point average.  Veterinary Science instructor, Dr. Christa Nealeigh stated, “McKenzie has been at the heart of some innovative ideas of how to showcase the MVCTC FFA Chapter along with motivating more members to become active participants.”

Emily Swindell (Miami East High School) was recognized by her Medical Office Management instructor, Mr. Rusty Sink, for her hard work and “can do” attitude.  Mr. Sink stated, “Her hard work and can do attitude make her a pleasure to have in class.  She is an active participant in class discussions, shares ideas, and is always on task.”

Congratulations to Garrett, McKenzie, and Emily for their outstanding representation of MVCTC and their respective programs.  Special thanks to TJ Chumps of Englewood, Ohio for donating gift certificates.  Both students received plaques to honor their accomplishments.

What started almost 50 years ago as the Montgomery County JVS has transformed into the Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC). While the name has changed, the mission remains the same. We are dedicated to providing training for in-demand jobs and college-readiness skills for high school and adult students across Darke, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Warren Counties.
