The Flying Eagle, December 2013
A Publication of East School

For the past few years, fourth graders at East School have published their own student newspaper. It is part of the language arts gifted program under the direction of Edwinna Thomas. Following is the lead story for this issue of the Flying Eagle.

Snow Creates 2 Hour Delays and Closings
by Dalton Swank and Brandon Henninger

On December 6th, snow hit Greenville, forcing 2 snow days and multiple delays for students of Greenville City Schools. Parents got the message about the delays and closings from the superintendent’s office. In addition to school closings and delays, some local stores were closed. Many snow plows scraped roads and put salt on them to melt the snow and ice. Most kids have enjoyed their time off. Some have spent time playing video games, watching TV and doing homework, while others slept in and played in the snow.
