East School Fourth Grade News Crew.
From East Flying Eagle Newsletter instructor, Edwinna Thomas: “It's sad to say "good bye" to our 4th grade news crew each year.  They really enjoy this authentic writing component of the language arts gifted program at East.”

The Wait is almost over
By Gabe Taylor and Jacob Watson

Surprisingly, it’s almost the end of the school year! Do you know what that means? Field day is almost here! During the last week of school, East School kids will be participating in Field Day.

During field day, kids play and do activities ALL DAY LONG! Last year, everyone went to Cattie Shack Golf where kids drove golf balls and played “puttputt.”

Afterwards, they went to Harmon Field and played tug-of-war and had track races. But that was last year. This year, Miss Cindy Rose, P.E. teacher at East, will be in charge of field day, so she may have activities planned that are new and exciting! We can’t wait to see what’s in store for us!

One more thing you need to know… You cannot participate in Field Day if you lose all your letters or get in huge trouble. Losing your letters means having to take away a letter from a card that spells out “FIELD DAY.” You have to take away letters for poor behavior choices. Once you’ve lost all of your letters, you are not going to get to go have fun. Remember, be good and don’t do anything to cause yourself to lose letters.

County News Online has been featuring the Flying Eagle Newsletter since it was first offered in 2012. It has been a pleasure and we look forward to publishing the offerings of next year’s budding journalists.
