French Cabaret Singer comes to Inn at Versailles

Darke County Center for the Arts will present French cabaret singer Claudia Hommel in concert at the Inn at Versailles on Thursday, April 28; showtime is 7 p.m.  The final Coffeehouse Series presentation of the 2010-2011 season, this performance is is a perfect match between artist and venue according to DCCA officials.  “Claudia, who now lives in Chicago, was born in Paris, and her show celebrates the French and American songbook,” said Keith Rawlins, DCCA’s Executive Director.  “The setting at the Inn will transport the audience to a timeless place where they can revel in the moment while enjoying a universally enjoyable show,” Rawlins explained.

Claudia Hommel leads an active career as a theatrical singer in clubs, recital halls, and theatres across the nation; she also has allied with music educators and French teachers to take her cabaret programs to colleges and secondary schools where she provides residencies, workshops and master classes.  Her voice has been described as “clear and beautiful, ranging from lyrical to gutsy.”  According to Mr. Rawlins, Claudia is an appealing performer whose delightful personality and bountiful talents will  engage and entertain audiences of all ages. 

DCCA’s Coffeehouse Series presents high quality performing artists in a comfortable, social atmosphere where food and drink can be enjoyed along with the performance.  Steve and Eileen Litchfield, Tom and Julie Graber, and Rodney Oda are sponsors for the series.  DCCA also receives funding from Harry D. and Esther Stephens Memorial, Lydia E. Schaurer Memorial Trust Fund, and Ketrow Foundation,  In addition, the Ohio Arts Council helps fund Darke County Center for the Arts with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence, and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.  

Tickets to the Coffeehouse performance by French chanteuse Claudia Hommel are $10, and can be reserved by contacting DCCA at 937-547-0908 or dcca@centerforarts.net or purchased at DCCA’s office in the Greenville Public Library.  Those planning dinner at the Inn at Versailles should make reservations by calling the Inn at 937-526-3020.
