Daffodils and smiling faces... two things that remind us of spring. With the long winter we’ve endured, it’s time to spring into action and plan a getaway with that someone special.

March 4 - Cosmic Bingo. Play this fun game under the black lights with glow papers and daubers, music, games and door prizes. Event takes place at Paws Bingo Hall in Greenville. Doors open at 5:30. Bingo begins at 7pm. Proceeds benefit Main Street Greenville and Darke Co. Humane Society. Contact Main Street Greenville with questions, (937) 548-4998.

March 6 - The Garst Museum will feature a Native American flute and story telling performance by John DeBoer. The author, musician, and environmental educator will be performing “A Tribute to the Native American Flute,” telling stories, and sharing legends. Fun for all ages. All lectures are free and open to the public. For more information, call (937) 548-5250 or visit www.garstmuseum.org.

March 5 & 6 - Annual Maple Syrup Festival & Breakfast. Enjoy guided tours of the entire process of making maple syrup free of charge to the public. Learn how maple syrup was made hundreds of years ago, and then visit the “Sugar Shack” to get an insider’s view (and taste) of the modern-day process. Afterwards, warm up by the fire in the Log House and learn tales of days gone by from Pioneer Interpreters. Maple syrup products will be for sale.

On Saturday, March 5, The Friends of the Parks will be serving up a hearty breakfast of waffles, sausage, juice, coffee and, of course pure Ohio maple syrup. Breakfast is from 7 - 10:30 am for a donation of $only 5 per person. For tickets, call the Darke County Parks office at (937) 548-0165. www.DarkeCountyParks.org

March 11 & 12- Happy Hour at The Winery at Versailles. Enjoy fun music, specialty drinks and a night out from from 4-9pm. Wear something Green! Find out about all the events taking place at the winery on their website, www.WineryatVersailles.com.

March 17 - 19 - Customer Appreciation Days. Shop the great selection of discounted items throughout the KitchenAid Experience Center located in Downtown Greenville at 423 S. Broadway.

March 25 - Mar 27 - Darke County Home & Sports Show. Enjoy the idea of spring at the Darke County Sheriff Auxiliary’s Home & Sports Show at the Darke County Fairgrounds, Fri 6-10 pm; Sat 11-9 pm; Sun 11-5 pm. Contact Glenn Curtis at (937) 548-3746 for information.

March 26 & 27 - Bluebird Festival. Celebrate nature and learn about the habitat in your own backyard by attending the Annual Blue Bird Festival at the Greenville Armory on Wagner Avenue on Saturday from 9 am until 5 pm and on Sunday from 11 am until 5 pm. Every Tuesday in March - Early Morning Discovery Hikes. Enjoy the invigorating, crisp air during early morning Discovery Hikes at Shawnee Prairie with naturalist, Robb Clifford. Call the Darke County Parks for details (937) 548-0165 or log onto darkecountyparks.org.

March - Annual “Trade in Event’ at KitchenAid Experience Retail Center. During the entire month of March take any brand stand mixer, stand blender or food processor to the KitchenAid Experience Retail Center in downtown Greenville and receive a voucher toward the purchase of a KitchenAid Stand Mixer, KitchenAid Stand Blender, or KitchenAid Food Processor. March - Live Cooking Shows at KitchenAid Experience Center. Learn tips to achieve professional results in your very own kitchen! Visit their Heritage Museum, take a factory tour and enjoy the free cooking shows at KitchenAid Experience Center in Downtown Greenville. Classes are free and open to the public at 10:30 am, Monday through Saturday. No advance registration is necessary.
