Toledo Symphony Orchestra highlights Memorial Hall Centennial Weekend

Darke County Center for the Arts...

Honoring a century of performances at Henry St. Clair Memorial Hall in Greenville, Darke County Center for the Arts will present the Toledo Symphony Orchestra in concert on Saturday, May 5. “The Toledo Symphony understands the impact Memorial Hall has had in our community during the hundred years of its existence, and has planned a program truly celebrating the legacy of this treasured site,” said Keith Rawlins, DCCA Artistic Director. “This program, “Stars and Stripes Forever,” will include stirring music evoking past eras as well as familiar songs reflecting the musical heritage of our nation,” Rawlins concluded. The concert begins at 8 p.m.

According to Mr. Rawlins, the Toledo Symphony Orchestra has developed a strong local following for their performances in Greenville. “They are, of course, excellent and skilled musicians, but they play with such verve and enthusiasm that audiences can’t help but get caught up in the joy of the moment,” Rawlins explained. The performance will be conducted by Jeffrey Pollock, who has worked with prestigious orchestras across North America.

This final performance in DCCA’s 2011-2012 Artists Series is sponsored by Jim and Enid Goubeaux, Greenville Federal, and Ami McClurkin. Darke County Center for the Arts also receives financial support from Harry D. and Esther Stephens Memorial, Ketrow Foundation, and the Lydia E. Schaurer Memorial Trust Fund. Additionally, the Ohio Arts Council helps fund this program with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans. This program is sponsored in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Tickets for Toledo Symphony Orchestra’s “Stars and Stripes Forever” are $30, with a special student price of $15. Tickets may be reserved by contacting DCCA at 937-547-0908 or dcca@centerforarts.net. Tickets will also be available at the door if any remain by showtime.

The TSO concert is one of many special DCCA events planned in conjunction with the Memorial Hall Centennial Celebration. DCCA will present “An Evening of Legacy” featuring local performers at Henry St. Clair Memorial Hall on Friday, May 4 at 8 p.m. Tickets for this show are $5, and will be sold at the door. And on Sunday, May 6, American Family Theatre’s Wizard of Oz will close DCCA’s Family Theatre Series season; those tickets are $5 and may be purchased at Readmore’s Hallmark, Worch Memorial Public Library in Versailles, or by contacting DCCA.
