Adopt-A-Park program meeting scheduled

Darke County Parks...
Adopt-A-Park program meeting scheduled
March 31, 2012

Do you want to spend some time on the trails?  Need a reason to go and take a walk?  If so, please join us on Thursday, April 5 at 6PM for the Adopt-A-Park meeting at Shawnee Prairie Preserve. Not sure if it is for you? Then come join us and see what it is all about.

During the meeting we will discuss the following topics:

  How to Adopt-A-Park.

The role of a volunteer assisting with a park.

Identify prairie plants versus other unwanted plants.

The purpose of this program is to keep our parks clean, safe, and accessible to the public. As a volunteer, we ask that you to visit the park that you have chosen/ been assigned to at least once a month during the months of April to November and from December to March bimonthly; weather permitting.

Some of your duties will include: picking up litter, making sure the trails are clear of woody growth and making sure structures (such as boardwalks, bridges, overlook decks, bulletin boards, and shelters) are secure and updated.  Attached you will find Checklists for the Park; feel free to make additional copies as needed.
