World’s Longest Yard Sale

August 2 - 5. Travel more than 600 miles through five states for the 25th Anniversary of the World’s Longest Yard Sale! Darke County is proud to be on the Buckeye 127 Route, and offers many sales from border to border. 

42nd Annual Bluegrass Festival

August 2 - 4. Enjoy the best of bluegrass music along with home cooking and open stage night. Admission is $5 for Thursday, $15 for Friday and $15 for Saturday, or $30 for all three days. Camping is available at $3 per day. Call (937) 548-4747 for more details. 

FirstFriday - downtown Greenville

August 3. Enjoy a mini concert on the Courthouse Lawn by local classic rock band, The Dick Helman Trio along with Garcia & Scott from Nashville, TN as the main performance from 8:30-11:00 p.m. Additional performers include: Frohna & Warner, Singing for Sanity, Cinder Home, Tim Weaver, Rise Above, The Midwest Revival, Joe Helfrick, and student performances at The Workshop Learning Center. In addition, many businesses will be open late offering a great time in downtown to stroll around and enjoy the summer evening. www.DowntownGreenville.org 

Family Fun Night

August 11. Take the entire family to Eldora Speedway for a night filled with UMP DIRTcar Modifieds, Eldora Stocks and MMSA Mini Sprints, as well as a huge autograph session plus a gigantic fireworks extravaganza. Summer Cookout & Music

August 11, 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Join the folks at The Winery at Versailles for an old fashioned summer cook out. They’ll be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs, as serving up potato salad, baked beans, dessert and more. Cost is only $15/person and includes a specialty drink. Summer Concert: Bill Light

August 11, 7:00 pm. Enjoy a musical journey as local musician, Bill Light tells tales of his elaborate past. Many musical instruments and styles will be presented, interspersed with numerous stories from Bill’s book, “The Stories: a Journey Through Time”. Event takes place at Shawnee Prairie Preserve. The GREAT! Darke County Fair

August 17 - 25. The GREATEST county fair on earth - at least we think so! Kids of all ages will enjoy nine fun-filled days of activities at the Darke County Fairgrounds in Greenville. Events include harness racing, music concerts, cheerleading contests, high school band concerts, tractor/truck pulls, draft horse pulls, demolition derby, livestock shows/sales, junior fair activities, flower show, domestic & fine arts shows, farm garden displays, show horse & pony shows, mule & donkey shows, bungee jumping, rock climbing, free midway shows, carnival games, arcade games and food vendors. Gates open from 7:00 am until midnight, every day. Annual concert this year feature Foreigner, on Sunday, August 19. www.DarkeCountyFair.com 

Bike to Health

August 18, 9:30 am. Join a Darke County Parks Naturalist for this brand new series. Meet at the Gettysburg Access Point at Bridge Street and ride The Tecumseh Trail. Cycling is not only good for your heart, it helps strengthen muscles, control weight and increase your energy. Families are welcome. FareFest

August 18, 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Back by popular demand, enjoy the Fourth Annual Versailles FareFest. Sample wine, beer and delicious food from hundreds of vendors, hosted by the Inn at Versailles.
