Three little angels, shepherds and wise men pose with Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus after the 2011 Christmas Eve Candlelight Service.

First Presbyterian Church Christmas Eve Service

A candlelight service will begin the celebration of Christ’s birth as First Presbyterian Church at 114 Fourth Street in Greenville completes the month of Advent with a family worship time.

The service, at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve, will be preceded by an organ recital at 6:30 by Terri Fryman and promises familiar carol singing, beautiful choir renditions and meaningful scripture readings to create a worshipful atmosphere.  Angels will announce His birth to the shepherds who worship the Son of God held by his loving parents.  Wise men from the East come to bring Him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Although these are in reality only costumed children, the scene will evoke a picture of that birth long ago and possibly bring back memories of our own childhood.

The members of First Presbyterian Church invite all to come and share in this meaningful experience as we welcome the Christ Child anew into our hearts.
