The 61st Festival,
“Operation Poultry,” honors Armed Forces
2012 Poultry Days Festival...
Versailles Poultry Days will be celebrating its 61st festival June 8, 9
& 10, 2012. The 2012 Poultry Days theme is “Operation
Poultry” - a tribute to our armed forces.
Armed forces activities include: On Sat June 9th at 9:30am there
will be a Veteran tribute at the town’s fountain square. At
11:00am, the Grande Parade will include military vehicles, marching
veterans, & many floats dedicated to the military. There will
also be a flag raising ceremony at 2:00pm on the festival grounds in
front of the School Administration building. Throughout the
entire weekend there will be displays from the 101st Airborne Division
WW11 Living History Team, Historical Reenactment Society, and National
Guard. Also, many Military units will be on the grounds:
IWO Float, 1941 WC-21, 1942 Halftrack, 1942 Ambulance, 1943 Weasel,
1944 DUKW/DUCK, 1945 Jeep, 1945 CCKW, 1947 Jeep, 1952 Duce, 1953
Ambulance, 1953 Duce, 1967 M37, 1986 5-ton/LCVP. The Poultry Days
board members are honored to invite all Veterans to join us at this
year’s festival.
The Poultry Days Festival has always been famous for the delicious BBQ
chicken, served all weekend long. You can enjoy the chicken under
a covered tent on the grounds or by using our drive thru. Serving
times: Friday June 8th 3:00pm-8:00pm, Saturday June 9th 12:00pm -
7:30pm, & Sunday June 10th 11:00am – 7:00pm.
Bear Hollow wood carving performances will return again this
year. These wonderful wood sculptures are recognized for
attention to detail, knowledge of the craft, and an entrepreneurial
spirit. A must see to believe event. Scheduled show times
are Saturday June 9th at 2:00, 4:00, 6:00, and 8:00 p.m. and
Sunday June 10th at 1:00, 3:00, 5:00, and 7:00 p.m.
Poultry Days is known for their many fun events and this year will be
no exception. A new addition to the list is the Adult Tricycle
races. Others activities include the Bean Bag Toss, Kiddie
Tractor Pulls, 2 on 2 Basketball tournament, Flower show, Arts &
Crafts, Cake & Egg contest, Photography show, 5K run/walk, Antique
car and tractor show & parade, and the Miss Chick & The Little
Miss Poultry Day contests. We will also have Bingo, Laser tag,
Pony rides, and Carnival games & rides. For further

The commercial and craft tents will again be booming during the
festival. Serendipity Moms have been busy filling these tents
with fun-filled vendors and opportunities, browse through and show your
support for our local businesses.
The live music entertainment in the social tent this year
includes: Friday June 8th, “Nashville Crush” at 7:30pm, on
Saturday June 9th, “Higgens-Maidwell” at 1:30pm, “Pocket Change”
at 4:30pm, “Karmas Pawn” at 7:30pm. On Sunday June 10th, “On the
Radar” at 1:00pm, “2x2 Unplugged” at 3:00pm, and “Empty Tank” at 6:00pm.
We are also excited to announce some new adult beverages. The entire
selection includes: Bud Light, Yuengling (new), Bacardi (Raz
& Lemonade), and Versailles Winery Wine (new). You must be 21
to purchase tickets, identification WILL be checked. Please drink
responsibly.
