Pass the Tree—I’ve got a headache!

Plants are full of amazing chemicals and long ago, people learned that plants could be utilized to treat many illnesses. Join the Darke County Park District on Saturday, March 30th at Shawnee Prairie Preserve at 1:00pm and discover the historic use of plants as medicines.  We will welcome Nina Lapitan, of Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm.  Nina is neither an ethnobotanist or scientist. However, she’s studied plants and herbs for nearly 25 years and has presented this topic at Aullwood and various garden clubs.  Learn how Europeans and Native Americans used plants, including some of our native species, for a variety of purposes. Afterwards, we’ll take a walk outdoors to search for many of the spring wildflowers discussed during the lecture.   This program is FREE but please call the Nature Center at 937.548.0165 to pre-register, as space is limited.  For more information on all of the upcoming programs offered by the Darke County Parks, click here to visit our website.
