Ackley fundraising auction set for Nov. 21

GREENVILLE – The second “Joining Together for Darke County Teens” silent auction and fundraiser for the Senior Scribes Scholarship Fund will kick off at The Bistro Off Broadway Nov. 21. The event will be held from 7 to 9 p.m.

The first event was held at the Bistro May 31. It was a joint fundraiser of The Early Bird, Blue Bag Media, Bistro and County News Online. Local community and political cartoonist Paul Ackley signed cartoon purchases by high bidders.

With the funds raised in May and at our November event, we hope to present the Senior Scribes Scholarship Fund with a substantial check,” said Keith Foutz, Early Bird publisher.

The fundraiser had a good turnout in May, and hopes are high to double that in November.

The gift-giving season will be upon us,” Bob Robinson, SSSF committee member, said. “A lot of people follow Ackley’s cartoons in the Early Bird and on County News Online… there is probably someone in your family who would like an autographed original of his or her favorite cartoon for Christmas.

Stop by on the twenty-first, check them out and put in your bid,” he added.
