Head Start -
Kids Learning Place

Enrolling now for fall preschool in the Head Start Program

Cooking is fun and a natural way to learn. Learning to measure helps to develop children’s small muscle control and eye-hand coordination.

A child’s most important learning starts at birth and continues through preschool. If they wait for kindergarten or primary school they will be missing the time when their learning develops most quickly in their life.

Kids Learning Place is now taking applications for the Head Start preschool classrooms for fall 2014. Head Start is a federal funded, high-quality preschool program for children between three to five years old. The program is no cost to the families if they meet eligibility according to federal income guidelines. The program may also provide preschool services without income eligibility restrictions for foster children, children with disabilities, and families that are homeless.

Every child needs a variety of learning experiences before starting school, to enhance their cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth. Our Head Start preschool classrooms provide every child with a positive education experience that includes:

teachers with degrees in every classroom

a research-based curriculum that is structured to focus on the child’s strengths and interests

developmental testing during the year with assessments to track child outcomes and successes

individualized services for children and families

opportunities to serve children with special needs and abilities

Kids Learning Place is committed to ensuring education excellence for the families and children we serve. One way is for our centers to be involved in Ohio’s “Step Up to Quality” program, which recognizes early childhood programs that exceed licensing standards. Our centers in Greenville, Bradford, and Union City are the ONLY child care programs in Darke County that are recognized in Ohio’s “Step Up to Quality” program with either a 3 or 4 star award for quality from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

If learning at home is more convenient for your child and family, Head Start also includes a home base program with staff visiting families weekly and periodic group experiences for the children and families.

The application process is taking place in Darke County now, call to secure your child’s spot in the program. For more information about Head Start and Kids Learning Place call our toll free number 1-866-627-4557 and talk with a local person.
