Volunteer Opportunities for May 2015
 
DCP Volunteers,
Below are the volunteer opportunities we have planned for May. Please let me know if you are available to assist with any of the projects/ tasks.
 
Early Morning Hike
Join a Naturalist at 8AM on Tuesday mornings and hike the trails to see who calls Darke County Park their home.
 
Butterfly Monitoring
Join us at 2PM on Friday afternoons and assist with Butterfly Monitoring. Beginners and experienced individuals are welcomed to join us as we hike a preset trail looking for butterflies.
 
Volunteer Trail Educator (VTE)
This month we have several school programs that we are in need of volunteers to help with. Please call the office if you would like more information.
 
Thursday, May 7th- Task Force- 8:30AM
Meet us at Shawnee Prairie as we will be working on chipping up several brush piles from various projects. Bring gloves and please RSVP if you can help.
 
Saturday, May 9th- Habitat Healing 12:30-3:00PM
Join us today at Shawnee Prairie as we start removing Bush Honeysuckle and Garlic Mustard from our Parks. Removal will include pulling by hand, hand tools, and chainsaws. Call me today if you are free to help.
 
Tuesday, May 12th- Task Force- 9AM
Please join us at Routzong parking lot as our goal for the day will be to replant/ mulch around the trees for tomorrow.  Please bring a shovel with you.
 
Thursday, May 14th- Task Force- 8:30AM
Meet at 130 Winchester as our goal will be to remove some sapling trees and start clearing out the fence row. Please bring chainsaws and loppers.
 
Tuesday, May 19th- Task Force- 8:30AM
Join us today at Chestnut Marsh as we will work on cutting down some trees. Please bring your chainsaw and chaps/chainsaw equipment.  Let me know if you are interested in helping.
 
Wednesday, May 20th- Habitat Healers – 2PM
