Walkin in a Winter Wonderland volunteers needed

We still need volunteers and supplies for our 8th annual Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland luminary event to be held on Saturday, December 5th 6-9pm.  If you’ve never helped with this event in the past, it is a peaceful, cheerful event and a great time to enjoy the community’s holiday spirit.  This is many people’s (staff, volunteer and public) favorite Parks event.  We hope you will join us in making it a reality.  Please see the list of needed supplies below.  Thank you
 
Trail:
 
Place Luminaries along trail – 1pm
I need 2 people
Light Luminaries – 4:30pm
I need 2 people
Please bring a candle lighter if you have one.
Trail Monitors – 5pm
I need 1 person
Monitor luminaries during event to ensure all candles remain lit, replace any burnt out candles, blow candles out at the end of the event. We will provide high visibility vests for you. Please bring a flashlight.
Trail Welcome – 5:30pm
I need 1 person
Welcome/greet trail visitors; give directions and count number attending. Dress warmly.
 
Log House:  (Must be in period attire)
Serve Drinks and Food Samples (cookies) – 5pm
I need 3 people
Popcorn and Cranberry Stringing – 5pm
I need 2 people
(assist the children with stringing pieces of popcorn and cranberries on a string that they can take home or put on our tree down stairs.)
 
Nature Center:
Craft in the Assembly Room – 5pm
I need 1-2 people
Cookie Decorating
I need 3 people
(Assist children in decorating their cookie with icing and sprinkles. Takes place in Live Classroom).
 
Supplies Needed Still:
o   2-3 brown grocery bags of plain air popped popcorn- (1-2 day old popcorn)
o   4 (12 oz.) bags of Cranberries
o   8 dozen Gingerbread Men Cookies (Children will decorate during the event)
§  (Contact me for cookie recipes so all are the same).
o   8 dozen Holiday Sugar Cut-out Cookies (Children will decorate during the event)
§  (Contact me for cookie recipes so all are the same).
o   3 Large tubs of Wilton icing
o   4 large bags of Marshmallows
o   12 gallons of Apple Cider
o   1 bag of Oranges
o   30 Cinnamon Sticks
o   Votive Candles

We are asking all volunteers to park along the maintenance gravel path or in the gravel parking lot and to wear their Volunteer T-Shirts. If in the Log House or Blacksmith Shop, please wear period attire and if on the trail, please dress for the weather.
 
PS:  We need help picking up luminaries on Monday the 7th also!  Please let me know if you can join us at 10am as we put away the luminaries for the year.  Thank you for your help during this less-exciting task.
