Volunteer
Opportunities for October 2015
DCP Volunteers,
Below are the volunteer opportunities we have planned for the month of
October. Please let me know if you are available to assist with
any of the projects/ tasks.
Early Morning Discovery Hike
Join a Naturalist at 8AM on Tuesday mornings and hike the trails to see
who calls Darke County Parks their home.
Volunteer Trail Educators Needed
Do you enjoy working with children? If so, sign up and join us to help
with a visiting school program. Some of your duties while volunteering
would include helping set up, supervise and clean up from program. If
you are interested please call the office today. Thanks!
Sorghum Cutting- Tuesday, October 6th 1:30PM
Are you available to help remove sorghum from the field? If so, please
plan on bringing your gloves and some water. Please let me know if you
can help.
Friends of the Park Meeting – Tuesday, October 6th- 6:30PM
Are you already a Friends’ member or would you like to join?
Please plan on attending the monthly meeting at the Nature
Center.
County Health Fairs-
It’s Health Fair Time! We hope to have a volunteer or two at the Park
District’s booth/ display during the upcoming health fairs. While
you are stationed at the booth you can inform the public about the bike
trail, upcoming programs and the parks within Darke County Park
District. We will have the display and all the supplies at our
station. If you are interested in helping please let me know when you
can help with either of the health fairs below.
Darke County Health Fair- Tuesday, October 13th- 8AM-4:30PM
We hope to have the following shifts: 8AM-10:30AM, 10:30AM-12:30PM,
12:30PM-2:30PM, and 2:30PM-4:30PM. This health fair is being held at
the Youth Building at the Darke County Fairgrounds. Please let me
know if you can help.
Darke County Health and Wellness Fair- Thursday, October 15th- 10AM-3PM
We hope to have the following shifts: 10AM-12:30PM and 12:30PM- 3PM.
This health fair will be held at Romer’s Catering in Greenville. Please
let me know if you can help.
Pumpkin Hunt Set-Up Saturday, October 24th- 10AM
Can you help set up for the Pumpkin Hunt? We are looking for a couple
volunteers to help put the question stakes and treat bowls around the
trails for the program. Please let me know if you can
help.
Pumpkin Hunt- Saturday, October 24th- 12:30-3:30PM
We are looking for several volunteers to help run our annual pumpkin
hunt. We need a couple volunteers to walk the trails to make sure the
participants are finding all the stations and we need a couple to help
with painting pumpkins in the Assembly Room. Also, feel free to wear a
costume!
Candlelight Dinner- Saturday, October 24th and November 7th
Are you interested in assisting with the Candlelight Dinners on the
Prairie in the Log House? We are in need of volunteers to
help cook over the hearth, serve food /beverages to the public and
everything in-between!
Prep Team: Arrive at Noon / Depart at 4pm
Dinner Team: Arrive at 4PM; please arrive in period-attire, ready to go.
Clerk of Courts Program- Thursday, October 29th 5:00-7:00PM
We are hosting a requested program for the Clerk of Courts and for the
evening will need to have volunteers in the Log House, Blacksmith Shop,
please wear period attire. Please let me know if you can assist
and more details will be provided at that time.
