The Domino Effect: Making A Difference In Darke County
By Jamie Wombolt

On May 30th at 5:30 pm, Greenville Dominos Manager Ashley VanHoose, will hold her first meeting concerning her new outreach program, "The Domino Effect." Like most, Ashley watches the news and reads the papers and feels that it's obvious that we are in the middle of a war against drugs, but more importantly, she fears we are losing it.

Having witnessed this before in other cities and towns, she has decided to roll up her sleeves and make a difference. On May 30th, all parents, teachers, business owners, students, and whoever else can join, are invited to attend the first meeting of this new program. The meeting will take place at the Greenville Dominoes location: 515 Wagner Ave. Ashley states, “I hope this meeting is a success. We need to stop just voicing our opinions and start doing something.” Her greatest goal with this new program is to prevent new addicts from being created.

This program will consist of volunteers working with local businesses, charities, churches, and more, on an hourly volunteer basis. Ashley believes that “Through this program volunteers will learn job skills, the value of hard work, the benefit of making a difference, but more importantly, the value of themselves.” Limitations set forth by the Ohio Department of Commerce will be strictly enforced. Volunteers will be rewarded with a meal from dominos in the form of a gift certificate or service on the day of turned in completion. All details can be obtained and discussed during the meeting.

Questions, comments, and concerns can be emailed to euba2684@hotmail.com. Ashley can also be reached by phone during regular business hours at (937) 459-4178.
