A Santa in our Hearts
By Phyllis Mong, Senior Scribe

It was Greenville and he was asked to be in the Holiday parade. So, Santa got his bright red suit, black boots all spruced up and bells sparkling. He had his beard brushed and combed out. He was looking good to meet all the children and parents which lined the downtown sidewalks by the hundreds. It was time for the… Read More. More Santa.

An Old Diary, An Old Calendar
By Mona Lease

Hi, all!! There's a 100 year old diary a WWI soldier kept. In a pocket of his uniform, it traveled with him on long, cold, wet marches through France. In pencil, he meticulously recorded the activity - marches, drills, rests, food, no food, forages into turnip fields to eat, stolen food from "KP", being able to eat at a table (some French people "hosted" the troops with a hot meal & bath before... GREENVILLE- The sign at Stebbins Field simply says, ‘you build it and they will come’. It wasn’t long ago, in his mind, that Greenville softball coach Jerrod Newland was entertaining thoughts of a massive project. Miss me yet?
A surprise for returning troops
From Bob Robinson

I got these from a reader. I’d seen it before but didn’t do anything other than enjoy the photos. This time I checked it out just to make sure it was legit… Why? Because quite frankly, the way things are going today I miss the guy. And yes, the photos are legit. I didn’t like a few of the things our... Read More. More Blogs.

NOTES & THOUGHTS FROM THE EDITOR... ON THE INSIDE  -  SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2012

Recently Memorial Hall was the setting for a memorial weekend. The hall was packed for “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”… and it was the scene (at least to me) of a sad announcement. DCCA Executive Director Julie Strait is retiring. I served on the Board during her tenure; I respected her leadership. CNO wishes Julie and her successor (to be named) success in their future endeavors. Don’t forget to check out High Five for Wave Pride and Letters to Santa under the Community tab.  Classifieds: New Listings posted for Dec. 6. In Blogs: Dissing Miss Kaptur. Events: Quest to perform at Christian Lighthouse and Greenville Athletic Boosters meeting. News: Portman resists debt-ceiling proposal and 2-week-old's injuries being investigated by Greenville PD. Opinion: Republicans Can Solve the Fiscal Cliff. Sports: 2013 Eldora slate released. Yesterday's Home Page Click Here
