The Community Independence Day Parade
By Bob Robinson

I vaguely remember seeing an occasional fireworks display when I was a kid… they weren’t that big in the 50s. It was usually a neighborhood project. The celebrations I remember most were in Lincoln, Nebraska when I was in junior high. We would block off our street for square dancing (and other “square” stuff, like barbeque and beer; and pop, sparklers, cherry bombs and snakes for the kids), divide up the two sides of the street and... FROM THE EDITOR... ON THE INSIDE  -  TODAY IS THURSDAY, JULY 5, 2012

Wednesday was all about the community Independence Day parades; Wednesday night was about the fireworks. One of the things I saw was people standing, some with hands over their hearts as the Honor Guard passed with the flag flying high. I love rural pride in “Country.” Speaking of pride, there’s community pride, too. My ears burned in New Madison… they say their fireworks is the largest in the county! Check out an additional Blog, an analysis on Obamacare; Events… AT&T Cell Phone Recycling, and the Crystal Ball; and News… Senator Bill Beagle. Also an Obituary: Phillip “Boob” North.
